Hi I’m Matt
I am a versatile trumpet player with a passion for helping students find their confidence through playing

I’m passionate about teaching students the language of music in a positive, high-energy environment. My goal is to empower every student to shape their own music journey by bringing their personal interests and long-term goals into the mix. I tailor the curriculum to fit each student’s unique learning needs so they can grow confidently and actually enjoy the process.

Students are expected to arrive at each lesson on time, well-prepared, and with their assignment book, music, and instrument. Instruments, oils, and music are not provided for lessons
To make solid progress, quality practice is essential. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions about the home assignments so both the student and parents fully understand what we’re working toward and why.
Parents: If anything is going on at home or school that might be affecting your child, please let me know. The more I understand about what’s happening in their world, the better I can support them and adjust accordingly.
All students are encouraged to audition for local youth orchestras and ensembles, as well as region and all-state band.

*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.
Tuition invoices will be sent roughly 10 days before the due date for all enrolled students. Invoices will reflect the number of lessons in that month based on the calendar and the studio schedule.
Payment received after the fifth of each month is subject to a $10 late fee. Payment received after the 10th of the month is subject to an additional $10 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.
Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment. All payments will be made through MyMusicStaff

Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a make up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make up lesson for that month.
Each month one day will be offered for make up lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.
Make up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.

Students are responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by me and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. The music will be available at a local music store, or Amazon.
Students should have all equipment to keep their instrument playing well. Oils, slide grease, and cleaning brushes are essential.

From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
