Matt Bergman

Matt Bergman is a freelance trumpet player and educator whose performance career spans orchestral, theater, concert, and special-event work throughout the NYC Tri-State Area and beyond. He has performed at venues such as at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Zankel Hall, and Weil l Recital Hall, as well as Alice Tully Hall, the Count Basie Center for the Arts, The State Theatre New Jersey, and The Wellmont Theater

Matt was featured as a soloist with the Higher Word Orchestra, performing Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York City for a sold-out audience of more than 500 people. The performance was subsequently featured on EWTN.

His performance work has included collaborations with Sutton Foster and Kelli O’Hara, Celtic Woman, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis, and The Irish Tenors. As a freelance orchestral and theater musician, Matt has performed with the MidAtlantic Symphony Orchestra, The Light Opera of New Jersey, The Adelphi Orchestra, Orchestra Manhattan, the Princeton Playhouse Orchestra, the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, and Garden State Symphonic Band. He has also worked with Windburn Music, Windish Entertainment, and the Steeple Concerts series at St. Paul’s.

His performance experience also includes churches throughout New York and New Jersey, where he has performed for Masses, weddings, funerals, and other special services and events.

Matt holds a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Performance from Mannes College of Music, where he studied with Vincent Penzarella of the New York Philharmonic. His other principal teachers include Robert Earley of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Tom Smith of the New York Philharmonic, and Tom Hooten of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

As an educator, Matt works with students of all ages, helping them develop strong fundamentals, musicianship, and confidence while supporting their individual goals.

When he’s not performing or teaching, Matt enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Charlotte, their beautiful daughter, Elodie, and their two cats, Simba and Delilah.
